Obituary

Yvette Mireille Sikorsky (nee Isaacson), 97, died Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Bronx, New York. Yvette was born on September 9, 1928, and raised in the Montmartre section of Paris, France. Her parents were Reine Bergeron and Benjamin Isaacson, they were both graduates from the Beau Art School. Yvette was raised by her maternal grandparents in France. Yvette grew up in Paris and enjoyed going to her grandparents' farm on the weekends and during the Summer with her cousins Jean Claude and Lucein, where she learned to paint and play the violin. Yvette began her formal education at the age of 14. Yvette excelled in school and was at the top of her class.

Yvette wished to pursue a career as a Designer and a Fine Artist. In 1953 Yvette along with her grandparents came to the United States to live.

Yvette while pursuing her dreams, met and married the love of her life, George Sikorsky. They lived in Mohegan Lake, New York. The two were each other's best friend and soul mate for 60 years. Even though they had no children she enjoyed her time with her husband George. Yvette considered her paintings her children. Yvette was preceded in death by her husband George, and her sister Barbara Silverman.

Yvette’s Life Work . . .

Yvette’s paintings have been exhibited in France since the 1960s. She was granted honorable mention in 1965 and received a Bronze Medal in 1973 from the City of Paris, France. In 1985, she had an exhibition in Paris at the Le Salon des Nations. In 1986, she had an art exhibition at Paramount Center for the Arts, in Peekskill, and many, many, private shows in homes of friends, family and colleagues.

Yvette will be remembered for beautiful art, and all the accomplishments. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 4-7 pm at Curry Giordano Funeral Home, 313 North James Street, Peekskill, NY 10566. Service will begin at 6 pm.
