William C. “Bill” Gurrisi, age 87, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away at home on October 11, 2025, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband for 65 years of Jean (Connor) Gurrisi.
The son of the late Charles S. and Selina (Garbino) Gurrisi, Bill was raised and educated in Winchester and was a graduate of Winchester High School. He received his A.S. in electronics from Northeastern University in 1958.
Bill worked for Raytheon and Ronzio’s Garage before founding W.C. Gurrisi & Sons, Inc. in Peabody, a repair and trucking firm which continues to be proudly owned and operated by the Gurrisi family to this day.
In his spare time, Bill enjoyed many cross-country trips and camping adventures with his wife and family. He loved spending weekends at their family retreat in Waterboro, Maine. A consummate musician with an amazing tenor voice, Bill served as a soloist celebrating many weddings and funerals. He was the Music Director and soloist at the former Immaculate Conception Church in Winchester, St. Jude’s Church in Waltham and the Fernald School in Waltham. One of his favorite activities, however, was neighborhood snow removal with his heated snow remover, which obviously contributed to his popularity. In these business, musical and neighborly capacities he made many lifelong friends, was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
In addition to his devoted wife, Jean, he is lovingly survived by his children: Laurie Sirois and her husband Tom, Linda Vining and her husband Stephen, Sr., Christine Keough and her late husband Bill, all of Woburn, Peter Gurrisi, Sr. and his wife Nicole of Merrimac, Paul Gurrisi and his wife Leslie of Kingston, NH, Amanda Carlson and her husband Steven of Arlington, VA, and Michael Gurrisi of Winchester. He was predeceased by two sons: Robert Gurrisi and his surviving wife Jill of Merrimac, and William C. Gurrisi II and his surviving wife Pamela of Haverhill. He was the cherished grandfather of 16, the great-grandfather of 13, the dear brother of Jennifer Gurrisi of Winchester and the late Rosemarie Gurrisi, and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friend are kindly invited to gather for Visiting Hours at the Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Wednesday, October 15 from 4-8PM and again on Thursday, October 16, at 9AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 10AM. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Haverhill.
