Obituary

Slavin, Barbara Louise of Framingham, MA and formerly of Wellesley, MA. Passed away on Sept 26, 2025. She was 79 years old. She had been residing at St Patrick’s Manor in Framingham for the past two years.

Barbara was born in Newton MA on July 14, 1946 to Mary (Connolly) Slavin and John Slavin. She attended Wellesley Schools and graduated from University of Massachusetts Boston. She worked for may years for Bell Telephone (Verizon) before attending Simmons College for a degree in Library Science. She worked as a reference librarian at Framingham Public Library.

Barbara loved books, reading, researching facts and oral histories. She had an inquisitive spirit. She completed an oral history of local WWll Veterans, participated in the oral history of the Club Passim in Cambridge and completed her mother’s oral history of life in Cambridgeport MA in the early 1900’s. She had a keen eye for up and coming artists and was a wonderful photographer.

She is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Sabo of Endicott NY, her brother in law Michael Sabo of Endicott, NY, her sister Margaret (Peggy) Ledwell of Falmouth MA, her sister in law, Mary Slavin of Natick MA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Joseph Slavin of Natick MA.

Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley on Saturday, November 1, from 9:30-11am followed by a blessing in the funeral home starting at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment after the blessing in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
