Marilyn Carol Mackie, 78, of Ventura, California, passed away on October 3rd in Ventura. Marilyn was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Earl and Joan Gradle on February 19th, 1947. She went to high school at Bloom High School and graduated in 1965.
Marilyn spent 12 years as a successful realtor and then went on to become a devoted mother to Sam and Andrew. When the boys were young, she chauffeured them to any and all athletic events where she cheered on the team or helped with fundraising efforts. Once her boys were older, she went into property management.
For fun, Marilyn spent time crafting - her favorite crafts were scrapbooking and making intricate cards for her friends and family. She also enjoyed feeding all the critters that came into her yard: bluejays, squirrels, quail, and hummingbirds, just to name a few. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, Riley and Sammy.
Marilyn leaves behind her husband, Sam Mackie III; sons, Sam Mackie IV and Andrew Mackie; daughters-in-law, Desire Mackie and Krystle Mackie; brother, Howard Gradle, his wife Susan Gradle along with her niece and nephew, Lauren and Michael Gradle. She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Joan Gradle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ventura County Rescue Mission Alliance or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Marilyn never met a stranger and everyone loved her sense of humor and her warm, welcoming demeanor.
Family and friends are invited to memorial services to be held at the Boyko Reardon Telegraph Road Mortuary & Cremation, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA on October 18th with visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 pm followed by a service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
