Obituary

Marcell S. Strain, Jr. of Medford, MA, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025. He was 70 years old.

Marcell was the beloved husband of Lovita (Bazar) Strain, his wife and best friend. Born in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late Alice Josephine (Shields) Strain of Winchester, VA, and Marcell S. Strain, Sr. of New Orleans, LA.

A proud and dedicated public servant, Marcell served as a Massachusetts State Police Trooper for 35 years, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and the communities he served. His devotion to duty and compassion for others were recognized in tributes from both Mass General Cancer Center and the Massachusetts State Police, which honored his courage, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

Marcell was also an active member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. He was also a former Vice President of the Mass B.A.D.G.E. Foundation; the mission of which is to foster a supportive community among law enforcement officers and their families, connecting them through events, mutual assistance, and charitable endeavors—strengthening bonds, providing relief in times of need, and celebrating service. He served this mission wholeheartedly.

He also loved to travel to locations near and far with Lovita, spending many joyful hours on his motorcycle. Together, they shared countless adventures that reflected his appreciation for their union, life, family, and the open road.

Marcell was the devoted father of Tamika Miles and her husband Stephon of Monroe, NC; Marcell P. Strain and his wife Melanie of San Francisco, CA; and Kamille Conceicao and her husband Mark of Billerica, MA. He was the adored grandfather of Sanaya and Alon Miles; Amelia, Madeline, and Winston Strain; and Kallie and Mason Conceicao.

Marcell was preceded in death by the late Dianne Strain-Randolph (husband, Lyman Randolph). He is survived by his brother Michael D. Strain of Riverside, California. Marcell is also survived by a sister-in-law, many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins, far and wide.
