Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Theodore J. Pereira, age 83, a resident of Tewksbury for 57 years, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Radius Northwood Nursing Home in Lowell.
He was the husband of Doris C. (Fournier) Pereira, with whom he celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on July 28th.
Born in Lowell on March 9, 1923, he was the son of the late Antonio and Sedalia (DaGloria) Pereira.
Mr. Pereira was raised in Lowell and attended Lowell schools.
In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Pereira served during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Pittsburgh.
He was awarded several decorations including the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with one bronze star, the American Area Medal and the Mediterranean Theater Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1999, he was employed for over 35 years as a machinist by the Middlesex Paper Tube Company of Lowell.
Mr. Pereira was a member of the Tewksbury V.F.W. Post # 8164, the Tewksbury American Legion Post # 640 and the U.S. Humane Society.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, hunting and reading historical publications.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by; two daughters; Gloria M. Tremblay and her husband Victor and Linda M. Tremblay all of Hudson, NH; eight grandchildren; David Roberts of Lowell, Sherrol Dillon and her husband Tom of Rindge, NH, Michelle Tataronis and her husband Peter of Hudson, NH, Brian Pereira of Tewksbury, Laura Pottie and her husband Michael of Billerica, Corin Tremblay and her husband Christopher Dickhoff of Maryland, Steven Tremblay of Lowell and Alan Tremblay of Hudson, NH; five great grandchildren; Kelsey and Courtney Dillon, Zachary and Matthew Tataronis and Bryanna Pottie; one daughter-in-law; Brenda J. Pereira of Tewksbury; three sisters-in-law; Marion Pereira and Pauline Beaulieu and her husband Alphonse all of Lowell and Pauline Fournier of Sterling; one brother-in-law; Henry Fournier and his wife Rita of Nashua, NH; his cousin; Antonio DaCunha and his wife Sonya of Lowell; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pereira was the father of the late Arthur and William Pereira, brother of the late Arthur Perry and George Pereira, and brother-in-law of the late Stasia Perry, Eugene and Emile Fournier, Rita Klaver, Cecile Gauthier, Lucille Ninteau and Theresa Hebert.
Calling hours Thursday, August 31st, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Prayers will be offered Friday, September 1st, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford. Please OMIT FLOWERS.
