
Parker D. Morris of Wellesley, MA passed away peacefully in Wayland on October 4, 2025 surrounded by family.
Parker was born in Boston on July 6, 1933, and later lived in South Weymouth, MA. Parker was predeceased by his wife Katherine (Whittle) Morris in 1980. A 1956 graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy, he served as navigator on the icebreaker USCGC Eastwind on an expedition to the Arctic before taking command of a Cape Class Cutter out of Key West, FL. Following active duty, he served in the Coast Guard Reserves for many years, retiring with the rank of Captain. Parker joined the New England Telephone Company as a young executive in 1960, working there until retirement. Parker and Kathie moved to Wellesley in 1964, where they raised six children.
Parker is survived by his five sons, Thomas of Cambridge; Daniel of Gainesville, FL; Peter and Danette of Andover; Mark of Natick (predeceased by wife Patti Marcus); Brian and Julie (Connor) of Wellesley; and his daughter Margaret and her husband William Gorvine of Little Rock, AR. He is survived by his sister Catherine (Morris) Whynot, her husband William of Wareham, MA, and their family. Parker was the beloved grandfather of Katherine, Ryan, Robert, Meghan, Sean and Timothy, and great-grandfather of Daisy, Moira, and Wendy.
Visitation at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street, Wellesley, on Thursday, October 9, from 5-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 10, at St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 10AM. Donations in memory may be made to the Coast Guard Academy “CGA Today” fund.
