Gerald Edward Chassie Sr., 87, of Franklin, MA, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Sunrise of Wayland, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Born on June 10, 1938, in Caribou, Maine, Gerald was the son of the late Edwin and Loretta Chassie. He was raised in Caribou and carried the values of his hometown with him throughout his life.
Gerald dedicated 42 years of his professional life to IBM, where he worked as a respected electrical engineer. He was also a proud lifelong member of the Elks and a man of many passions. He enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, and hunting, and was a devoted New England Patriots fan—holding season tickets for 17 years.
Above all, Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Chassie; his four sons, Craig Chassie, Kevin Chassie, Brian Chassie, and Gerald E. Chassie Jr.; Daughter, Cynthia Sloan and his brothers, Danny Chassie and Ronald Chassie. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to his life.
He was predeceased by his sisters Judy Chamberlain, Brenda Duprey, and Linda Anderson and his brother Richard Chassie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 11, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Parish in Franklin, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerald’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
