Obituary

Mae Walker Liles, 93, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, August 28, 2006, at the Osceola Nursing Home, Ocilla, Georgia.

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM, Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9, Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Liles was born June 4, 1913, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Jim and Polly Dixon Walker. She lived in the community all of her life. She was a homemaker and along with her husband owned and operated Liles Service Station and Liles Taxi Company. Mrs. Liles was a member and past president of the Fitzgerald Garden Club, a member of the Junior Women’s Club and a Pink Lady at Dorminy Medical Center. She was named Women Of The Year in 2002. Mrs. Liles was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Liles is survived by a daughter: Donna L. Eslick of Hot Springs, Arkansas; grandchildren: Stephanie Leigh Green of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Steven Lee Carson of Fitzgerald; 4 great-grandchildren; sister: Ann Womack of Tifton; special friends: Connie & Ray Mixon and Prentiss & Carolyn Brown, all of Fitzgerald; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bruce Liles, six brothers and four sisters.
