Obituary

WEBSTER – Raim Phillip “Phil” Devish, 80, died Friday, September 26,2025 in the Life Care Center of Auburn after a period of declining health. His wife of 45 years, Virginia “Ginger” (Moore) Devish, died in 2012.

He leaves 3 sons, Donald F. Devish, and Thomas E. Devish and his wife Tara, all of Webster, and Michael C. Devish and his companion Lynn Fontaine of Dudley; a daughter, Donna Young and her husband Eugene of North Grosvenordale, CT; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Vicki E. Devish of Webster. He was preceded in death by his son Robert in 2023 and by his brother Elmas Devish

He was born on January 13, 1945 in Southbridge and raised in Webster, a son of Shaki and Alfreida (Kleinknecht) Devish and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1962 where he was a pitcher on the varsity baseball team.

Mr. Devish first worked at Bates Shoe Company and then was a machinist at the Worcester Gear Company for many years before retiring in 2007. In his retirement, he was a van driver for his son’s company DD Freight and Courier for several years.

He belonged to the steel workers union and to the Kosciuszko Club. He enjoyed bowling, Keno, bingo and trains. A devoted fan of the Red Sox, He maintained detailed statistics of the team for many years.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street. A celebration of life will follow at the Kosciuszko Society-Bush Hall, 10 Dresser Street, Webster. Burial will be on Saturday, October 18 at 10:00 AM in Mount Zion Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to The Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9188.
