Obituary

Richard Irving Allen, 90, of Billerica, MA, passed away Tuesday September 30, 2025, at the Saints Campus of Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 13, 1935, in Somerville, MA, a son of the late Irving and Helen (Loveless) Allen. Richard was a resident of Billerica for the past 19 years, formerly living in Londonderry, NH and Somerville, MA. He was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1953. Richard proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a truck driver for Roadway Express, retiring in 1989 after 30 years. Richard later worked for Somerset Savings Bank, retiring in 1998. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 25 in Boston, MA. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling and later in life enjoyed trips to enjoy a meal with family or friends at local restaurants.

He is survived by his six children, Richard I. Allen, Jr. and his wife, Maddie, Kimberly A. Murphy and her husband Billy, Karen Girard Murphy and her husband Jack, Ronald J. Allen and his wife Kalley Cutler, Katharine Kilroy and her husband Tim and Robert L. Allen and his wife Jayne. He was Grandpa to his five surviving grandchildren, and Double ā€œGā€ to his one great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Millie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dolores (Bortone) Allen, as well as his grandson, Michael and sister, Marjorie

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a private graveside service with Military Honors will be held by the family in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
