Johnny L. Reaves, 72, of Wilcox County, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Salem Cemetery in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Brent Duncan and Daniel Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Reaves was born March 13, 1953, in Pitts, Georgia, to the late George Elton & Bessie Lois Trawick Reaves. He worked as a cloth spreader and cutter for H.R. Kaminsky & Sons. He also farmed and enjoyed mowing grass. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved listening to gospel music and Donnie Swaggart preaching. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sisters: Mary & Bill Smathers of Abbeville, Hazel & Curtis Brown of Abbeville, and Betty Jo Adkinson of Rochelle; sisters-in-law, Debra Reaves of Rochelle and Aggie Reaves of Ozark, Alabama. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karleen Reaves; and four brothers: David Reaves, Roger Reaves, Billy Reaves, and George Elton “Hoss” Reaves, Jr.
