Obituary

Alicja M. Borys, 70 of Worcester, Mass, died Sunday, September 28, 2025 in UMass Memorial Hospital, Lake Avenue, surrounded by her beloved family.

Alicja was born in Otmuchów, Poland and was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Anna (Wajdzik) Borys.

She is survived by her brother Jozef Borys of Poland, sister Jadwiga Majkowska and her husband Robert of Worcester. Her nieces and nephews from Poland. Her god-daughter Magdalena Czapnik and her husband Slawek and their children Janek and Liliana of Oxford, Mass and many, many friends. She’s predeceased by sister Barbara Cywinska of Poland.

Alicja was raised and educated in Poland. She received her Master’s Degree in Mathematics from University of Wroclaw. After obtaining her degree she was a primary school teacher for eleven years before immigrating to United States in 1989.

Here she worked as a Health Care Councilor at Westborough State Hospital until its closing. In her retirement she worked as a secretary at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester, Mass where she was a devoted parishioner.

Alicja was a dedicated member of the Metanoia Group, Holy Rosary prayer group, Ministry of Pilgrimage, and the former Women’s Guild of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

She loved playing tennis, skiing, hiking and going on pilgrimages to interesting and holy places in the world. Alicja was a gift from God to her family, friends and the community. She was very giving of her time, talents and love to those in need. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.


Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Worcester, Mass. A funeral with a Mass will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:30 am, in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Guests are asked to go directly to the church for the funeral. Burial will be in Poland.
