Anthony N. DiIanni, of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, Bradford and Medford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28th. He was 61. Born in Somerville, and he was the cherished son of the late Emma (Palermo) DiIanni and the late Nino DiIanni, and his surviving wife Patricia DiIanni.
Anthony moved to the Don Orione Home in Bradford, Mass., when he was in his early twenties. It was there that he formed a lasting friendship with Father Gino Marchesani. This priest did all in his power to provide positive experiences, including two trips to Italy, for Anthony and the other residents. When Father Gino was no longer able to work with the young men, Anthony moved to a Group Home in Winthrop. While there, he spent most days at the Bridgewell Kelly J. Martin Center in Lynn.
Anthony had a unique aura that was felt by those who came into his presence. He touched the lives of others in a special and personal matter. He was a beacon of love and light.
Anthony enjoyed watching cartoons on the television or his Ipad. Chinese Food was a favorite of his and he was always ready to share it with his friends on Pearl Ave. His favorite donut with sprinkles gave him lots of satisfaction. He will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
Anthony was the dear brother of Susan (DiIanni) Giovino and her husband Anthony. He was the caring step brother of Jeffrey Bailey and the loving nephew of Rita and Richard Iannaco. Anthony is also survived by many loving family members and friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, on Thursday, October 2nd at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Anthony’s name to The Bridgewell Kelly J. Martin Center (bridgewell.org)
