Obituary

SACO- Carroll L. Guest was born February 23, 1927, in Portland ME and ended his earthly adventure September 26, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born to Catherine (Burnham) Foster and Frank Guest.
Carroll grew up on the family farm on Broadturn Rd. in Scarborough ME. He was a 1945 graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco ME. He served two years in the US Navy on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carrier.
On return from his stint in the Navy he attended 2 years of Gray's Business School in Portland ME, then went to work for Boston mutual life insurance company and was a top performing salesman before becoming a leading district manager.
Carroll married Lois (Macomber) and raised their six children in Newport RI. After his separation from Lois, Carroll went on to marry his “bride”, Joyce (Cloutier) Knox in 1976. Who would turn out to be the love of his life. Carroll helped raise Joyce's two sons. They were just shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
In 1977, Carroll sold the Newport home and moved to Southern Maine, Staying at their cottage on Sebago Lake basin in Windham and their home in Baldwin, Me. They eventually built their home on Sebago Lake. In 1976, purchased and ran family circle campground on Tricky Pond in Naples ME for seven years. Also, during this time Carroll would frequent pool tournaments and join many pool leagues. He collected several trophies. He was known to play one hand behind his back and WIN!
Carroll and Joyce very much enjoyed traveling. Some of the places they travelled to were the Caribbean, Germany, Switzerland, Hawaii, Ireland and Prince Edward Island. They also traveled in their motorhome and 5th wheel throughout the southwest during the cold Maine winters. They soon found a love for the Mesa AZ area and that is where they purchased their winter home. This is where he found his love for hiking. He joined a hiking group there that he looked forward to every Winter. Carroll and Joyce were also frequent visitors at Lake Pemaquid Campground in Damariscotta ME where they would bring their grandchildren and create over 35 years of wonderful memories with them. Their grandchildren still continue that tradition at Lake Pemaquid. Together they enjoyed life and family for many years before moving to a condo in Saco.

Carroll is survived by his wife Joyce, his sister Sally Howe, his sons Peter (Terri), Jay (Denise), Franz and daughters Melody Pickett (Scott), Candice Menke (Paul), and Robin Guest. Two stepsons Brian Knox (Polinny) and Randy Knox (Polinna). He will be missed by 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished.
Predeceased by his parents Frank and Catherine, Stepfather Arthur Foster, Stepmother Mary Guest. A brother Gordon, a sister Sandra (Foster) Murch and three nephews Roger Guest, Frederick Murch and Randy Plummer, and two nieces Taylor and Shelby.
Carroll was a faithful member of the Seacoast Chapel on Rt 112 in Saco, ME. A memorial service will be held on October 18th at 10am at Seacoast Chapel, 228 Buxton Road, (Rt.112) in Saco.
