Lois A. Thornton, 92, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Harry V. and Mabel L. (Germond) Pontarelli.
Lois dedicated many years of her career to the jewelry distribution industry and later worked with a car rental agency. A longtime resident of Warwick, she made her home there for 65 years and was a devoted member of St. Benedict’s Parish. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George H. Thornton, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage. Lois is survived by her son, George Thornton of Warwick, and her brother, Harry V. Pontarelli and his wife, Dolores. She was also predeceased by her sister, Edith E. Pontarelli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 2 at 10:00 AM at St. Timothy’s Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI, followed by interment at Acote’s Hill Cemetery, Chepachet, RI. Visitation is respectfully omitted.
