Leonard H. Lamontagne, 80, of Londonderry, NH, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at his home. Mr. Lamontagne was born in Pinardville, NH on October 26, 1925, a son of the late Delphis and Marie (Beland) Lamontagne. He was a resident of Londonderry for the last 56 years, formerly living in Manchester, NH. Mr. Lamontagne served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his return he went to work for Clef Bros. Shoe Company in Derry, NH, Dorson-Fleischer Shoe Company in Manchester and Klev-Bros. Shoe Company in Derry. He had also worked for Remi Fortin construction in Londonderry and following his retirement he worked with Henry Constant doing masonry work. Mr. Lamontagne was a communicant of St. Jude Parish in Londonderry where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6949 of Londonderry. Mr. Lamontagne enjoyed woodworking; he made clocks and enjoyed spending time with his family and his church family. He was very devoted to his wife, spending many years taking care of her during her illness.
He is survived by a son, Paul G. Lamontagne and his wife Jayann of Londonderry, two grandchildren, Marcia Webb of Vail, AZ, Shaw Lamontagne of Londonderry, five great-grandchildren and a sister, Claire Burnett of Goffstown, NH. He was predeceased by his wife Lucille J. (Messier) Lamontagne in 2001 and also by three brothers.
Calling hours were held from 2-4 and 6-8pm, Wednesday, August 30 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 AM in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry.
