James P. McLean
Maryland– James P. McLean, 91, formerly of Farmingdale, Maine died August 21, at Morningside Assisted Living Center of Cancer.
Born in New York City, on January 11, 1915. On August 17, 1952 he married Genevieve A. Connors of Rumford ME., who predeceased him on December 2005.
Mr. McLean retired as Public Relations Assistant for the Commissioner, at the Maine Department of Transportation. He then started and operated a career counseling service for 18 years.
He was president of the Augusta Rotary Club in 1985 and served on its board of directors for four years.
Mr. McLean was a parish council member of St. Joseph’s Church in Gardiner Maine and chairman of lector services.
A City University of New York graduate, he had served as an infantry platoon commander on Okinawa in World War II, then in Korea where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
Surviving are a son, James McLean of Derry, NH and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Gianforte, of Severn, MD and Mrs. Patricia MacPherson of Exeter NH, one sister Anne McLean of Houston, TX, and a brother John McLean of Bayside WI. He also has seven grandchildren.
In his spare time he enjoyed entertaining friends, reading, playing golf and traveling. He also liked meeting new people, learning new things and was very loved by his family and friends.
A Chapel Service will be held on Tuesday August 29, 2006 at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at 2 PM.
