Shannon Lee (O’Rourke) Martinez, 56, of Ventura, CA, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Ventura CA after a lengthy illness. Shannon was born in Ventura CA to Diane and Phil O’Rourke on October 14, 1968. She went to high school at Ventura High and graduated in 1986. She enjoyed sunsets, the beach, fishing, roller skating, fashion, her Jordan collection, and music.
Shannon is survived by her two sons and her two grandsons, who she loved, cherished and adored. Taj D. Martinez (son) and his son Xander Martinez (grandson) of Ventura, and Tyler M. Martinez (son) and his son Adrian Martinez (grandson) of Ventura; her mother Diane O’Rourke, and brother Patrick O’Rourke (wife Megan), along with their children; Liam and Ariana;
close extended family members, Larry M. Martinez (father-in-law), Nancy A. Martinez (mother-in-law), Larry D. Martinez, Mia A. Martinez (sister-in-law); nephews Dakota B. Harrison and Mark A. Martinez-Velasquez; niece Mia S. Harrison; and her great nieces and nephew Cali, Avia, Athena and Dakota Jr (Dakota’s children) and Prestin (Mia’s daughter). She is preceded in death by her father, Phil O’Rourke, and her maternal grandparents Daniel and Nelda Machado.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Taj Martinez via Zelle or Venmo. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Dr. Ghandi, and the many friends she made during her 20 years of service to San Souci and extends many thanks to all who have donated.
Shannon will be dearly missed by so many, she will always be remembered as kind, loving and caring. She touched the lives of everyone around her and had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and her generosity and warmth will be deeply missed. Though her time with us feels far too short, we will always carry her memory in our hearts and be grateful for the love and joy she brought to our family.
A Sunset Celebration of Shannon’s Life will be held at Serra Cross on October 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Shannon’s immediate family.
