BAR MILLS/BUXTON- Buxton-Terry Jo Reynolds, age 81, passed away on September 25,2025, in her home after a long fight with COPD.
She was born in Portland, Maine on July 18th, 1944, daughter of Henry and Gloria (Leighton) Pliskowski.
A loving mother of Sonja Reynolds, and widow of Leon "Brownie" Reynolds. She was a wonderful and loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Very few people can maintain lifelong friendships these days, but Terry Jo had many. She was a bright and caring soul, with a kind face whose presence lifted those around her.
She leaves behind her loving partner, Richard, her beloved daughter Sonja, her grandchildren Cheyenne, Ciara, Dio, Jeremy and Tanya, and many close friends she "adopted" and considered family.
Terry Jo spent many years working with Personal Touch Catering, where she found the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of people all over the state. She worked in a factory building canoes, Worked as a CNA at Maine Medical, employed and the local corner store in Bar Mills, and trained, under her mother, as a hair dresser. She also worked from home doing hair cuts and perms for friends. She was so skilled, she was offered to be a hair model for Revlon.
Terry Jo shared her love with children in the Fresh Air Program. Bringing them to Maine to experience something other than city life. She, her husband Brownie, and daughter Sonja shared their lives with Aileen, Barbara, and Naima, just to name a few. Some have stayed in contact with her through all these years.
And she and friends worked with the Make a Wish program, to bring children with muscular dystrophy from Maine to California, to meet their hero at the time David Hasselhoff from Knight Rider fame.
Then travelled to Las Vegas to have those children participate in the Jerry Lewis Telethon on stage.
Terry Jo loved the outdoors, To fish and hunt with her husband.
She was included in the 1988 edition of the Maine Antler and Skull trophy club, for bringing down a bear at 280 lbs.!
Terry Jo is predeceased by her loving husband Leon, her parents Henry and Gloria, and her brothers Gene and Guy.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace...Amen
Her family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported and cared for her throughout her life, and to the many friends who became family along the way.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Oct. 2nd from 4 - 6 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
