STANDISH- Joseph A Bennett, Age 92, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025. He was born in Dayton, ME on January 15, 1933, to Francis and Mary (MacDonald) Bennett. He attended Thornton Academy before joining the Airforce. He was stationed in Alaska, which was still a territory, where he received overseas pay. When he returned to Maine, he met Barbara (Sargent) while working at GE in Limerick. They married in 1956. Joe was proud of building the house they lived in with his father-in-law. He held several positions over the years, but being a business owner of Bennett’s Major Appliance Repair was one of his greatest accomplishments. Over the years, with Barbara at his side, they had several projects, including raising raspberries and rabbits. Joe is predeceased by his wife Barbara and siblings Mae, Georgina, Francis, Paula, Ervin, Arvid, and Raymond. He is survived by his brother Thomas Bennett of Virginia; Children Linda Ripley of Gray and Robert Bennett and his wife Karen of Falmouth; three grandchildren – Kelly Ripley (partner James Nelson), Jake Ripley, and Katherine Bennett; and two great granddaughters Dalilah and Peyton; nephew Mike Metcalf and several other nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on November 5th at 2:00 pm at Dow Corner Cemetery in Standish.
