
Limington - Terry Garnsey, 68, of Limington, Maine, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on August 3, 1957, in Glens Falls, New York, to Raymond Garnsey and Marilyn (Myette) Garnsey. Terry graduated from Hudson Falls Senior High School in 1975 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served as a chauffeur for the colonel.
Following his military service, Terry worked as a truck driver for Red Star Express and was a proud member of the NYS Teamsters Union. In 1995, he relocated from Upstate New York to Maine, where he provided a wonderful life for his family.
Terry had a deep love for nature and could often be found watching wildlife or enjoying the power of a thunderstorm. He cherished being a husband, father, “Papa,” and great-grandfather, with his family being his greatest joy. He loved animals—especially his beloved dog, Leo—and delighted in making others laugh with his endless jokes and sense of humor. Some of his favorite punch lines were “Drive fast, take chances,” and when asked how he was doing, he always replied, “Better than a sharp stick in the eye!” If someone offered to get him anything, his quick answer was always, “Six winning numbers.”
Terry is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Kathleen Garnsey; his children, Jeremy Meyers (Marla Norton), and daughter Rachael Garnsey; girlfriend of his late son, Terry Garnsey II, Kaitlyn Ouellette; special niece Jaydeen (Kevin and family); Loving Aunt Jane Myette; his siblings, Sue Picard (Buddy), Debbie Diamond (Frank), and Scott Garnsey; and close friends Susan Slocum and her late husband and Terry’s favorite chess buddy Philip, as well as Curt and Merry Springer. He was predeceased by his brother Ray-Michael Garnsey and son Terry Garnsey II. Terry was the proud grandfather of Karley Barber-Sherman, EmmaJune Barber, and Liam Barber, and great-grandfather to Juliette Fuller.
A graveside service will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery on October 7th, 2025 at 1:00pm. The cemetery address is 83 Stanley Rd Springvale, ME 04083.
Terry will be remembered for his bright smile, warmth, love, and the laughter he brought to all who knew him.
