Helen M. Howley, 93

Dateline: Sharon, MA

Helen M. (Legee) Howley, age 93, a former longtime resident of Sharon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late William P. Howley, Sr., to whom she was wed for forty-six years at the time of his death on December 15, 2015.

Born in Medway, MA on December 10, 1931, she was a loving daughter of the late Warren L., Sr. and Grace M. (Purdy) Legee.

Helen grew up and was educated in Natick. She had made her home in Sharon for over fifty years and prior to retiring, had worked as an administrative assistant for the Dennison Company in Framingham, at David L. Babson & Company, Inc. in Boston, as well as other firms in the Sharon area.

A communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Sharon, Helen’s adult life was actively spent in Girl Scouting. Her community involvements included serving on the Board of Trustees for the Sharon Girl Scouts and being an active member of the Sharon High School Booster Club and Sharon Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading. Along with her late husband Bill, she enjoyed traveling throughout the country and being a member of the Starcraft Camping Club. At the time of her death, Mrs. Howley was anticipating the birth of her tenth great grandchild.

She was the devoted mother and stepmother of William P. Howley, Jr. and his wife Carole of New Hampshire, Lorraine M. Birkbeck and her husband Larry of Plainville, Elizabeth A. Waldman and her husband Howard of Acton and Jupiter, Florida, Joseph A. Howley and his wife Brigitte of Oregon, Joanne M. Valeri and her husband Stephen of Mansfield, Kathleen A. Lussier of North Attleboro and her late husband Richard Lussier and Ellen M. McGowan of North Attleboro. She was the cherished and proud grandmother of Kelli, Michael, Daniel, Laura, Julian, Kirstin, Gina, Stephen, Samantha, Christopher, Kyle, Hayley and Alec and the treasured great grandmother of Abby, Grayson, Kate, Greta, Maya, Joshua, Theo, Layla and Brielle. She was the dear sister of James Legee, Warren “Sonny” Legeee and the late Grace Eiland. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, October 3rd from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 A.M. in Our lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage Street, Sharon. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
