**Elsa M. (Zuniga) Hapshe**
*June 30, 1942 – September 19, 2025*
Elsa M. (Zuniga) Hapshe, age 83, of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Meadow Green Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
She was the beloved wife of 45 years to the late James J. Hapshe, who passed away on July 17, 2015.
Born in Lima, Peru, on June 30, 1942, Elsa was the daughter of the late Avelino Zuniga and the late Victoria (Alavarado) Zuniga. She was raised in Lima, attended local schools, and graduated from high school before moving to the United States.
Before her retirement, Elsa worked as a benefits agent for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Unemployment, where she was admired for her dedication and compassion in helping others.
Elsa will be remembered for her warm heart, strong faith, and devotion to her family. She especially enjoyed going to the beach, cooking, spending time with her family, and taking motorcycle rides with her husband. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her favorite dishes.
She is survived by her daughter, Christina Hapshe-Wink and her husband, Joseph, of Chelmsford; three cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Duross, Shannon Wink, and Josie Wink; and her great-grandson, Maverick, who she was blessed to meet.
Elsa also leaves behind her siblings: Juan, Yrma, Manuel, Alberto, Julio, and Carmen, and was predeceased by her siblings Encarnacion and Blanca. She will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members in Peru, with whom she always kept close ties.
Her celebration of life will be held at **Rufina’s Italian Restaurant, 170 Concord Road, Chelmsford, MA, on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM.** All friends and family are welcome. Burial of her ashes will be private at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
