Peter Giammalvo, 90, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2025. Born in Roxbury on February 8, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late Ignazio and Agnes (Accardi) Giammalvo, originally from southern Italy.
From a young age, Peter worked alongside his father in the family’s sub shop on Blue Hill Avenue. He later opened Station Lunch in South Boston with his cherished wife, Florence, where they built a community around good food and friendship. Throughout his life, Peter shared his love of cooking, catering gatherings for family and friends. He also worked as a security guard at State Street Bank and proudly served as a groundskeeper at Fenway Park, where he enjoyed meeting many of the greats in sports.
Peter was a proud member of the Roxbury Red Raiders, winning the 1956 state championship, and in 1999 he was honored for his many years of loyal support to the team. He was also an active member of the Sons of Italy in Quincy. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, and enjoying the camaraderie of friends at the racetrack.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Florence (Hewitt) Giammalvo; his step-sons, Paul and William Merlino; his siblings, Bernie, Anna, Theresa, and Josephine; and his parents, Ignazio and Agnes.
