Gerald Patrick “Ricky” Simpson, 73, of Enigma passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County with the Rev. Rickey Wells officiating. Mr. Simpson will be laid to rest at Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mr. Simpson’s family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Born October 1, 1951, in Tift County, Mr. Simpson was the son of the late Alfred Simpson and Nona Stembridge Simpson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Simpson; and one brother, Charlie Wayne Simpson. He graduated from Berrien County High School and received his associate degree in accounting from ABAC. He was self-employed as a mechanic and car salesman.
Mr. Simpson is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lucretia Thompson and her husband Dave and Shanna Baggett and her husband Patrick; one sister, Alfreda Jo Bridges; four grandchildren, Kailah Myers and her husband Wesley, Justin Baggett, Jacob Baggett and Nicholas Baggett and his wife Brooke; many great-grandchildren; two nieces, Alicia Funderburk and Denise Koogler and her husband Ken; three nephews, Chad Simpson, Craig Simpson and Don Bruner and his wife Amber; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
