Obituary

CHICOPEE – William T. “Tommy” Hayes, Jr., 67, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on December 19, 1957, a beloved son of the late William T. Hayes, Sr. and Sara J. (Siriani) Hayes. He was raised and educated in Chicago Heights, IL and also lived in Warwick, RI, Houston, TX, and moved to Chicopee in 2002 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed in the Research and Development Departments of several flooring companies. Tommy was very talented and especially loved to draw. A devoted “Dead Head,” he rarely missed a chance to play his favorite tunes and was just as dedicated to his other favorite pastime; growing and sharing a little “green joy.” Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his partner of 26 years, Valerie J. (Whitehead) Thomas of Chicopee; his two loving sons, William T. “Tommy” Hayes III and his wife, Manal Aleidan, of La Jolla, CA and Christopher D. Hayes and his fiancée, Natalie Luoma, of Long Beach, CA; his loving stepdaughter, Amanda E. Rzeszutek and her husband, Timothy, of Chicopee; his three cherished grandchildren, Jude Harper Hayes, Jayda Valerie Thomas, and Brody Ronald Rzeszutek; his loving sister, Cassandra Gibbs and her husband, Greg, of Texas; his sister-in-law, Tracy Hayes of Rhode Island; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Hayes. His services will be private.
