It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Shawn Rodgers, age 58, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, who passed away on Friday, September 12th. In Shawn’s final weeks and days, he was surrounded by loved ones at all times.
Born on May 12, 1967, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Shawn grew up in Tewksbury, where he played Pop Warner sports and later high school football. A talented athlete, his skill and determination showed on the field. Shawn graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1985. Shawn and his family moved to New Hampshire 25 years ago where made many new friendships that lasted his lifetime. Shawn was the life of any gathering his big personality, sense of humor, and love for making others laugh made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.
Shawn lived life to the fullest. With a warm smile, quick wit, and a heart open to everyone he met, he had a way of turning strangers into friends. He filled his days with laughter, kindness, and a deep love for family, friends, and his community.
Shawn was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Giles Rodgers. Shawn is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Dale McNeil Rodgers, and their three children: Bryan Rodgers and his longtime partner Cristina Kennedy, Tyler Rodgers, and Brittany Rodgers. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Avianna 9 years old, Brody 7 years old, and Cheyenne 6 years old; his siblings, Robert Rodgers; Shannon Doherty and her husband, Michael Doherty; Jamie Rodgers and his wife, Kristi Rodgers; and Larry Rodgers; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will carry his spirit in their hearts.
One of Shawn’s greatest joys was spending time with his three beautiful grandchildren, Avianna, Brody, and Cheyenne —often taking them, along with his faithful dog London, on nature walks, outdoor adventures, and off to the park. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and going to the lake with the kids. He was known for his willingness to help neighbors and lend a hand to anyone in need, Shawn embodied generosity and compassion. Those who knew him will forever remember his sense of humor, his loyalty, and his dedication to the people he loved.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury, MA, on Saturday, September 20th, at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following, all are invited to join in a celebration of Shawn Rodgers’ life at the home of Shannon Doherty, 76 Pike Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
