TEWKSBURY – Richard Allen Gath, age 85, lifetime resident of Tewksbury, passed away on September 11, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Lombardi) Gath with whom they shared 64 years of marriage.
He was born in Lowell on February 3, 1940 and was the son of the late Elsie Arsenault and William (Happy) Gath.
He served the town of Tewksbury for 27 years on the Water Department and as a Firefighter and retired as Fire Lieutenant.
After retirement he worked in construction.
Richard was an antique car enthusiast and owned a 36 Dodge Rumble Seat Coupe which he spent many hours restoring.
He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his bounty with family, friends and neighbors. He and his wife enjoyed wilderness canoeing and camping, traveling and entertaining.
In addition to his wife Richard leaves his daughters Lisa Gath and Lori Gath Hand, a granddaughter Alyssa Hand, his brothers William and Michael Gath, his sister Edna Gath Moran and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dawn Rogers Cornelio and Colleen Curtis Dube
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4th, at 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by a Celebration of Life.
