John Alan Lopez Sr., also known as “Big John,” passed away on September 15, 2025, at the age of 62. Born September 8th, 1963, in Ventura, California, John lived a full life surrounded by family, friends, and love.
He was the beloved son of Author and Susan Lopez, a devoted husband to Rene Lopez, and a proud father to Yvette Gross, Anthony Valdivia, Ashley Lopez, and John Lopez Jr. He is also survived by his beloved aunt & uncles, cousins and many nieces and nephews. John’s siblings Leonard Lopez and Sarah Lopez who now send their brother John to heavenly join Steve Lopez, Richard Lopez and Lenny Lopez to reunite in heaven.
John dedicated much of his life to his work as a commercial truck driver in the service industry, where he built a reputation for his hard work, humor and dedication. Outside of his career, John cherished spending time with his family and friends. He found joy in gatherings filled with good music, barbecue, and the warmth of those around him.
A memorial service to honor John’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4th, 11:00am, at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 East Main Street, Ventura, California.
John will be remembered for his generous heart, strong spirit, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
