Bernice Noyes, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Compass on the Bay in South Boston. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Frank in August of 2023.
She was born and raised in Little London, Jamaica, the daughter of Levy and Ida Moo Young. Bernice always spoke with pride and love for her birth country and how much she loved growing up there. When she was 20, she left her beloved Jamaica to come to the United States with her husband Frank, who she met and married in Trinidad. Adopting the United States as her new home, she became a naturalized citizen and a proud American. They made their home in San Diego, California for almost 40 years before moving to Melbourne, Florida in 1990. Bernice loved Melbourne but always longed to return to her favorite city, San Diego. In August of 2022 Bernice and Frank moved to Brockton to be nearer to family and then shortly after to Compass on the Bay in South Boston.
Bernice loved to read her magazines and was an avid sports fan, especially tennis, golf and football. She could name all of the top players and why she thought they won or lost. But what Bernice enjoyed the most was chatting with family, friends and neighbors. She loved when family came to visit and couldn’t wait to bring out a deck of cards or dominoes; she was exceptional at both.
Mrs. Noyes leaves behind her four children, Sandra Chin and husband Phillip, Brian Noyes, Wanda Alves and husband Joseph, Philip Noyes and wife Cynthia, 10 grandchildren, Yvette, Jonathan, Kimberly, Brianne, Joseph, Mario, Jenna, Chantal, Alex, David, and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jason, and her siblings, Mavis, Fred and Lillian.
Arrangements: Viewing and service on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church, 1367 Main Street, Brockton, MA, Viewing from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., service at 5 p.m., burial will take place at a later date at Bourne National Cemetery.
