Edmund A. Varin, Sr., passed away on September 8, 2025, in his home in North Port, FL and surrounded by his sons. He was the husband of the late Sandra M. (Jez) Varin.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Ernest and Gaetana (Merola) Varin. He had been living in Smithfield, RI and had wintered in North Port, FL.
Edmund was an Electrical Engineer for many years before retiring.
He leaves his sons Edmund A. Varin, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Harrisville, RI and Port Charlotte, Fl and Dennis Varin and his wife Donna of Catawba, NC. He was the grandfather of 9, great-grandfather of 15 and was a great-great-grandfather to one. He was the brother of Carmen “Rick” Varin, MD of Kilgore, TX and Joseph Varin of Smithfield. He was the companion of Cecile Paquette. He was the father of the late Denise Faccenda and Debra Picozzi.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 18 at 9:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am in St. Michael’s Church, Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held from 8:30am to 9:30am.
