Obituary

John Edward (Jack) Fitzgerald, 78, of Holbrook formerly of Franklin died peacefully after a short illness on September 13 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham.
Born in Cambridge, May 13, 1947, the son of the late John E. and Lorena R. (Duquette) Fitzgerald, John was raised in Franklin and lived in Dorchester and Quincy before moving to Holbrook 20 years ago.
He was a graduate of Marian High School in Framingham and also attended Northeastern University.
Early in his career John worked in customer service/management in the banking sector, later he worked in real estate property management.
He enjoyed reading, bowling, listening to music, singing in church choirs, volunteering in his community and at local voting polls, watching the Red Sox and staying in touch with family and friends.
John is survived by his siblings, Maureen DeDominici and her husband Jack of Bellingham, Rosanne Lyons of West Springfield, Marie Opera and her husband Richard of Franklin, Joan Burgess and her husband David of North Attleboro, and Barbara Fossey and her husband Stephen of Natick.
He is pre-deceased by his brother Mark Fitzgerald and brother-in-law James Lyons.
John is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 19 in St. Mary’s Church, Church Square, Franklin at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 19 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin.
