Obituary

Elaine M. Keefe, 91, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, after a long period of declining health. Born on October 23, 1933, in Nashua, NH, Elaine was the beloved daughter of Eugene and Iola (Bills) Zins. She was a native of Windham, NH where she resided for over 40 years before relocating to Londonderry, NH in 1977.
In 1957, Elaine was appointed Deputy Town Clerk of Windham. Thus began a career of service to the Town and its residents that spanned over five decades and several different departments/positions. In 2002, Elaine officially retired after 36 years as a full-time Secretary, however, she returned for several weeks each year until 2011 to assist the Tax Collector during billing seasons.
Throughout her life, Elaine enjoyed music and dancing, the theater, visiting casinos, a “friendly” game of 45s or poker, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and family gatherings of any kind. She was also a talented pianist and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of Windham’s history.
She is survived by daughters Pamela Haegle and her partner Joe Panto, Patricia Antoon and her husband Michael, and Wendi Devlin and her partner Don Soule; sons Glenn Haegle and his wife Suzanne and Gary Haegle; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Jeannine Zins; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate Francis Keefe, her brother Paul Zins, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her former husband, the father of her children.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. Cremation will follow and private burial at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery will take place at the family’s convenience.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Villa Crest Nursing & Retirement Center for the care and kindness they provided to Elaine during her stay.
In keeping with Elaine’s wishes, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or other charity of your choosing.
