Charlotte A. McGowan, age 99, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully, September 14, 2025, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center of Burlington, following a very brief illness. Born in Woburn, she was one of six children of the late James and Margaret (Boyle) McGowan.
Charlotte was a 1943 graduate of Woburn High School. Following high school, she began her career with the New England Telephone Company where she worked as an administrative assistant for 44 years prior to her retirement in 1988. Always staying busy and active, Charlotte enjoyed participating in activities at the Woburn Senior Center. She also enjoyed following local sports and was an avid reader keeping up to date on all current events. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her late parents, Charlotte is predeceased by her siblings, the late Rev. James J. McGowan, the late William F. McGowan and his surviving wife Mary Margaret of Marshfield, the late Robert J. McGowan and his late wife Mary, the late Margaret Rutkosky and her late husband Anthony.
Charlotte is survived by her beloved sister, Virginia M. Kazazian and her husband Randolph of Reading. She is further survived by eleven cherished nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
Funeral from McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, September 19th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home will be held on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Charlotte's memory to the Woburn Senior Center, 144 School St., Woburn, MA 01801.
