Ann Rollins Dyer: March 2, 1935 - September 12, 2025
LYMAN- Ann Rollins Dyer, known as “Ma” to all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
their friends, passed away on September 12, 2025. She was 90.
Ann was born on March 2, 1935, in Waterboro, Maine. She lived in Waterboro and Lyman all of her life, attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1953. She attended Nasson College in Springvale for two years studying Home Economics. Throughout her life she was employed by General Electric in Limerick, Sprague Electric in Sanford, Southern Maine Finishing in Waterboro, and she retired from Silvex Surface Technologies in Westbrook. She was a conscientious worker who often arrived at work hours before the start of her shift to drink coffee, chat with coworkers and work on whatever knitting project she was making at the time. Her children were her pride and joy and she was so proud of all of them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of her life and she enjoyed babysitting, spoiling them, takingthem out to breakfast and shopping and finding jobs around her house for them to do so she could “tip” them. Ann loved to knit and sew. She was always in the middle of at least one, if not several projects at any given time. Her favorite things to sew and knit were doll’s clothes. Once her children and grandchildren outgrew playing with dolls, she would go to Reny’s and purchase a baby doll, outfit it with numerous homemade dresses, outfits, sweaters, etc. and then donate the doll and wardrobe to a children’s charity. She also knitted dozens of preemie hats and donated them to Southern Maine Medical Center. She loved to hand sew baby burp cloths and blankets and knit baby sweater sets and hooded baby sweaters. If one of Ann's children’s friends, or grandchildren’s friends was having a baby, they undoubtedly called up Ma, and asked her to
make something for the new arrival. There are countless handmade items out there that Ann cheerfully made for the new babies in her circle. All of Ann’s children also have beautiful handmade Christmas tree skirts that she made that will continue to be used every year with her in mind. Ann was also a great cook and was likely best known for her extraordinary Angel Food Cake. She was known to bring one to most family functions and again, if her children or grandchildren needed something special for an occasion, they often called up Ma and asked her to make her famous cake. She regularly purchased containers to put them in and kept them on hand so then when she sent off a cake, she had just the right thing to put it in. Ann is survived by two brothers, Forrest and Roger. Her children are Rodney Carrol Dyer Jr. and his wife Jodie of Lyman, Alan Roger Dyer and his wife Debbie of Waterboro, Jane Dyer Havu and her husband Alfred of Hollis and Julie Dyer Tavares and her fiance Mark of Concord, New Hampshire. Her grandchildren are Cara Ridley, and her husband Joseph of Shapleigh, Cale Dyer and his partner Chelsea of Waterboro, and Camry Andrews and her husband Ryan of Newfield. Her great grandchildren are Lydia and Ella Ridley, Ryan and Royce Andrews and Sydney Dyer.
Per her request, there will be no services.
