Obituary

William F. Wagner. 71, known to everyone as Bill, passed away suddenly on September 12, 2025 at the Brockton Hospital. Bill was born in Topeka, Kansas and was from Brockton, formerly of Dorchester, Mass.

Bill was the loving father of Sheila M. Wagner, who entered eternal rest recently, and is survived by his wife Margaret (Connolly) Wagner, and his cherished granddaughter Annie Joyce Dowd.

Bill was the loving son of the late Phillip and Mary (Ryan) Wagner, and was preceded in death by his beloved brothers Philip Wagner of Nebraska, Donald Wagner of Florida and his beloved sister Theresa Chase of Nebraska. Bill is also survived by his loving brothers David Wagner and wife Bernadette of Omaha, Nebraska and Michael Wagner of Bradenton, Florida, as well as his beloved sisters Mary Keller and husband Mark also of Bradenton, Florida, Clare Bradley of Bradenton, Florida and Katherine Georgopoulos of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bill also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends, especially Louie McPhee who was not just a friend but also a caregiver to Bill during this past year in many thoughtful and compassionate ways.

Bill’s career was focused on driving large trucks and eventually buses where he worked for the MBTA and was quick to tell you there wasn’t anything he couldn’t drive. Bill was an avid supporter of the Mass State Lottery and loved to try out his luck on “scratchies” as well as occasionally visit Foxwoods. Bill loved collecting hats and tee shirts especially anything Harley Davidson as well as all things Native American as his great grandmother was from the Blackfeet tribe.

Bill’s lighthearted approach to life and generous nature kept him close to our hearts and he will be sorely missed but we are confident in our faith that Bill has reunited with Sheila in heaven.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 10am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s name be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) where Bill held lifetime membership.
