Obituary

Gerard F. “Jerry” Daesen, 80, formerly of Franklin, died peacefully on September 8 in Rockport, Maine after an illness. He was preceded in death in 2014 by his wife, Kathleen (Dunn) Daesen.

Born in Boston on October 16, 1944, the son of the late Albert Daesen and Helen Daesen, Jerry was raised in Roxbury and lived in Franklin for 50 years before retiring to Maine. He was employed for much of his life as a truck driver for Sweet Life Foods and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 170 and a dedicated member of the company’s safety committee for several years. Jerry enjoyed playing cards, playing piano, bowling, landscaping and gardening.

He is survived by his children, Stephen Daesen and his wife Deirdre of Wrentham, MA and Jennifer de Lannée and her husband Claude of Orono, Maine. He is also survived by his brother Richard L. Daesen of Portland Oregon, as well as his grandchildren, Marius, Andre and Magali de Lannée and Ryan Daesen.

Family and friends are welcome to attend calling hours in Jerry's memory on Sunday, September 14 from 2-4pm at Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin ginleyfuneralhomes.com 131 Main Street, Franklin.

Funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 15 at 10am in Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre Street, West Roxbury. There will not be a funeral procession and attendees may meet directly at Holy Name Church.

The burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jerry’s memory to either MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital, Hospice Sussman House, 40 Anchor Dr, Rockport, ME 04856 or Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284.
