Obituary


Anne Mary (Finnerty) Paul, age 84, of Medford passed away on Tuesday, September 9th, at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Born and raised in Sruthán, Carraroe, County Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Sean and Annie (Gavin) Finnerty. Anne immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 16, and lived in Dorchester before settling in Medford in 1972.

Anne made a good life for herself in the US, becoming a citizen, marrying, and raising a family. She was devoted to the Catholic Church and worked for several rectories. Anne also loved to travel, entertain, and had many friends and who will miss her dearly.

Anne was the beloved wife of 42 years to the late Joseph W. Paul, and the devoted mother of Joseph W. Paul, Jr. and his wife Laura of Medford, MA, and Linda Paul and her husband Alan Gallagher of Port St. Lucie, FL. She was the loving grandmother of Breanna Botelho, and the dear sister of the late Sonny Finnerty, Mary Folan and her husband Patrick, Tony Finnerty and his surviving wife Betty, and Jimmy Finnerty. Anne was the cherished aunt and God-mother of Ann Smyth, God-mother of Diane Paul, and aunt of Mary Finnerty, and Kenneth Paul and his wife Mary.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 14th in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, from 4 to 8 pm, and again on Monday, September 15th at 9 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
