Obituary

HIRAM- On September 8, our Mom, Phyllis Elaine (St. Pierre) Hodgdon, passed away peacefully at
Cedars Nursing Care in Portland Maine at the age of 80, with family by her side. She was

born in Westbrook Maine on January 18, 1945, to the late Alfred J. and Phyllis A. (Douglass)

St. Pierre.

She had many joys and her most cherished one was raising her five children. Over the

years, her love only grew as she became a cherished grandmother to 22 grandchildren and

a great-grandmother to 30 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable

pride and happiness.

She had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Our mom had a gentle and

loving spirit. Her home was always a gathering place for family and friends with lots of

laughter and delicious food.

Our mom enjoyed hunting turkeys and deer and on one occasion she got to go on a moose

hunt with family. She also enjoyed quahogging and fishing. She sure knew how to make a

fantastic clam chowder and clam puffs.

Our mom had many talents. She taught herself how to crochet as a young girl. She kept us

girls stocked up with lots of crocheted barbie doll clothes, handbags and other

accessories. When we were children, our mom crocheted each of us a bedspread. As we

grew older, she had crocheted a beautiful tablecloth for each of our homes, which we will

forever treasure.

Our mom loved knitting baby sweater sets, afghans, mittens and dishcloths. She also

enjoyed quilting and had entered many in the local fairs and won first place on several

occasions. She enjoyed making table runners, handbags and clothes.

One of our favorite memories is when our Dad cut out vegetable markers for the garden and

animal character banks and our m o m would paint the faces on them. She knew how to

make us laugh with the cute expressions on each of them. She put so much love into

everything she made.

The garden was one of her happy places. Our dad would do the picking and she did the

canning, from stewed tomatoes, beets, green beans, carrots and pickles to her family relish

recipe.

She is survived by her five children, Laurie Buckley and husband Todd, Heidi Payne and

husband Peter, Deanna Hartford and husband Jeff, Richard J. Hodgdon Jr. and wife Vicki

and Aaron Hodgdon and wife Brittany. Her grandchildren; Amber, Andrew, Christine,

Hannah, Heather, Nicole, Todd, Scott, Brandon, Cedric, Ryan, Matt, Tiffany, Joe, Nichole,

Courtney, Hazel, Hunter, Chianna, Hadley and Isla. Her great-grandchildren; Christopher,

Timothy, Hayley, Noah, Xander, Ethan, Elijah, Abigail, Calvin, Austin, Charleigh, Foxx, Luke,

Isabel, Evelyn, Natahli, Gabreil, Jed, Colt, Damien, Mia, Brooke, Charlotte, Desiree, Warren,

Landon, Summer, Roman, Liam and Dean, along with several nephews, nieces, cousins

and friends.

We were blessed to have had such a beautiful and loving mom. We will forever keep her in

our hearts.

Our mom was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Hodgdon, Sr. and a grandson,

David Richard Wight Hodgdon Buckley.

"A mother holds her children's hands for a while, but their hearts forever"

A graveside service was held on September 12th at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook

Maine.
