GORHAM- Maurice Emile Geoffroy, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Gorham on Sept. 8, 2025.
He was born in Central Falls, RI on Oct. 7, 1942, a son of the late Hector and Simonne (Menard) Geoffroy.
Maurice or “Moe” as he was often called, was known for his love of flowers, working in his yard, was an avid dog lover and enjoyed going for rides.
He served as a priest for 10 years, a nurse at Thayer Hospital for 10 years, and 38 years as a social worker. His social work career involved working at PROP, and the Opportunity Alliance.
He is predeceased by his sister- Mariette Hebert and brother- Paul Geoffroy; and his beloved dog- Mackie.
Moe is survived by his husband- Mark Geoffroy; and a brother- Rene Geoffroy and his wife Rita of Warwick, RI. He is also survived by his cousins Ron and Mary; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law- Norman Hebert.
Moe’s family would like to thank Harvest Hills Animal Shelter for giving Moe his special companion, Saco Bay Physical Therapy, Northern Light Hospice, Julie the singing CNA and Melita of At Home Family Services.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday Sept. 27th from 2 – 4 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. The visitation will conclude with a brief service and sharing.
