Camille Lucille (Arena) Welch, 88, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, September 7, 2025, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was surrounded by her loving family, including her devoted husband, Bill (William) Welch.
Born on January 13, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Medford, Massachusetts, Camille was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She was the beloved mother of Diane, Donna, Billy, Brian and wife Jennifer; proud grandmother to 12; and adoring great-grandmother to 10.
Camille made North Reading her home for 66 years, where she enriched the community through countless roles: teaching CCD, leading Girl Scouts, driving a school bus, actively participating in the PTA, and dedicating over 20 years to the Town Clerk’s Office through the senior work program. She also played a vital role in supporting and managing Bill’s dental
technician business and enjoyed a long career at Converse.
She is survived by her brother, Anthony Arena of Medford, her sister, Marie Burns of Wilmington and treasured cousin Marie Costantino of Melrose. She was predeceased by her sister, Jeanette Gill of Andover. Camille was a beloved aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, many of whom affectionately called her “Auntie Dolly”, as well as an endeared friend to many.
Camille and Bill’s enduring love story would have marked its 66th wedding anniversary in October 2025. Together, they created a lifetime of joyful memories: winter ski trips, summers in York Beach, Maine, ballroom dancing, lobster dinners at The Oarweed in Ogunquit, and lively backyard gatherings filled with laughter and love.
Camille will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and the radiant smile that lit up every room. Her voice, her laughter, and her unwavering love touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday, September 12 from 10 AM - noon with a funeral service conducted in the funeral home at noon. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Camille’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
