GILL, Michael “Mike” F., retired Boston Police officer of Roslindale, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 30, 2025. He was 55 years of age.
Mike was born in Boston, the son of the late Boston Police Sgt. Francis M. Gill and Cecilia (Constantine) Gill. A lifelong resident of Roslindale, Mike graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and later entered the military. A proud member of the United States Marine Corps, Mike served his country in Operation Desert Shield/Storm during the Gulf War. After honorable discharge from active duty. Mike briefly worked as a prison guard before taking oath as a Boston Police officer in 1999. Mike patrolled many Boston communities while under assignment to several different police districts in his 24 years of service. Prior to his retirement in 2023, Mike’s final assignment was with the Evidence Control Unit. In his spare time, like his mom, Mike enjoyed indoor and outdoor gardening and, like his dad, reading fiction and non-fiction law enforcement and crime books.
Mike is survived by his sister Elizabeth and her partner Richard Haywood of California and his sister Christina Hayeck, her husband George and their children of Framingham. He leaves behind several cousins and their spouses, Patrick and Vicki, Robert and Robin, Michael and Christine, Mary, and Kellee and Ryan, along with special family friends The Mannings as well as many fellow officer friends and USMC brothers.
Visting hours at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Thursday, September 11 from 3pm to 7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, September 12 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church at 10am. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
