Obituary

Worcester: Charles J. George, Jr. also known as Nunny, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the Jewish Community Rehab Facility surrounded by his loving family. He leaves the love of his life of 67 years, Joyce E. (Girardin) George; a son Charles J. George III; 2 daughters Catherine George and Jill McGilloway and her husband David; 4 grandchildren - Alexandria, Charles IV, James, and Jack; a great granddaughter Emma; 2 sisters - Doris Cote and Pauline Messengers; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Abraham.

Charles was born in Worcester, son of the late Charles J. George Sr. and Laura (Lucier) George. He graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester State University where he also earned his Master’s degree. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard and worked as an elementary school teacher for the city of Worcester for many years. He was a long-time member of the YMCA, the Greendale Men’s Club, the Worcester and Holden Tennis Clubs. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame at Worcester State University. He enjoyed going to the beach - one of his favorite places being Aruba, meeting with his buddies at Panera on Wednesdays, grocery shopping, cooking, and above all seeing his loved ones enjoy his cooking - especially his grape leaves for his granddaughter, Ally. He was often complimented on his fashion sense - specifically his fancy pants. For the past 25 years, Charlie and Joyce spent their winters in Florida playing tennis and meeting new friends. Everyone wanted to be Nunny’s friend.

Nunny’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his family.
