Charles S. "Uncle Charlie" Gochakowski, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, peacefully with his niece and caregiver Ann Neary and her husband Francis by his side at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. He was 87 years of age.
Uncle Charlie was born in Boston on June 3, 1938, a son of the late Stephen Gochakowski and Catherine (Kuchinsky) Gochakowski. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and the Boston Public School system. Charlie worked as a Manager for Beverly Manufacturing Company for over 45 years. He enjoyed a nice cold Miller Lite in his spare time and watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed immensely playing Santa Claus for his nieces and nephews during the holiday season, going for walks on the beach, fishing, playing poker at the casino and hanging out with his buddies at the Teamsters Local # 25 hall in Charlestown.
Uncle Charlie is the beloved son of the late Stephen Gochakowski and Catherine (Kuchinsky) Gochakowski. He is the devoted brother of Patricia Kelley, Frank Gochakowski and the late Ronald "Pee Wee" Gochakowski, John Gochakowski, Loretta Bickford, Mary Murphy and Peter Michalozski. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Uncle Charlie on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2025, from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the MEDFORD/MALDEN LODGE of ELKS, 19 WASHINGTON ST. MEDFORD.
