Janie Lee Ford Harris, age 90, of Water Valley, MS died Saturday evening, August 26, 2006 in the Yalobusha County Nursing Home. She was a member of Ford's Well Church of Christ, was co-owner along with Minnie Humphreys of City Flower Shop in Water Valley until her retirement and in earlier years she had her own Beauty Shop at her home. The thirteenth of thirteen children born to John Wilson Ford and Custus Lee Coker Ford, she was married for 53 years to Gerald Harris who preceded her in death on December 5, 1989.
Visitation will be at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Thursday morning, August 31, 2006 at 11:00 AM with Brother Billy Sasser officiating. Interment will follow at Ford's Well Cemetery with Frank Evans, Joe Newman, Andy Hall, Bob Pass, Dewitt House and Billy Humphreys serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Harris leaves her two sons, Charles L."Charlie" Harris and wife Betty of Water Valley, MS and William E. "Bill" Harris and wife Betty of Kendall Park, NJ; five Grandchildren, Charles Lynn “Chuck” Harris, Jr. of Water Valley, MS, Candice Harris Kidder and husband Glenn of Houston, TX, William C. “Billy” Harris and wife Coleen of South Brunswick, NJ, Deborah Harris Macaluso and husband Ricky of Charlotte, NC, Lisa Harris Jablonski and husband Eric of Franklin Park, NJ; seven great-grandchildren, Lacey Marie Harris, Brittany Nicole Harris, Terri Lynn Harris, Chelsea Macaluso, Jessea Macaluso, Colin Harris and Jake Tyler Jablonsk.
In addition to her husband Gerald Harris and parents John Wilson and Custus Lee Coker Ford, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by seven brothers, Edward Lee Ford, Roy Patton Ford, James K. Ford, William Monroe Ford, Leo Ford, Loyd Ford and John L. Ford; five sisters, Annie Ford Guest, Callie Ford Magee, Eunice Ford Reeves, Margaret Ford Bingham and Lena Ford.
