June C. (Donadio) Gold of Woburn, formerly of Arlington, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, August 29th, 2025 at 94 amazing years old. Born in Medford, she was the youngest daughter of the late Angelina (Santoro) and Gabriel Donadio. June was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Gold and devoted mother of Evelyn and her husband Thomas DeRosa of Boston, Nicholas Gold of Riviera Beach, FL, Elaine and her husband William Copithorne, Elizabeth and her husband Dennis Diggins, Joanne and her husband Gary Routenberg, all of Arlington, and John Gold of Woburn. In addition to her children, Grandma Gold was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Erica and Mark DeRosa, Jacqui Buckley, Kristyn Gold Robinson, Jade Gold, William and Jonathan Copithorne, Devynn and Danielle Diggins, Annalise Kapp, Tucker and Sophie Routenberg, and the late Eric Nixon. She is also survived by 13 precious great grandchildren, many extended family members and friends. June was the sister of Janette Filosi, Chester Donadio, Carmela Yebba and Marguerite Guerrera, all who predeceased her.
June (aka JuneBug) grew up in Medford and moved to Arlington to start her family with her husband Nick. They lived on Morningside Drive surrounded by wonderful neighbors. As a couple, they were members of St. Eulalia Parish in Winchester and spent many weekends in Manion Hall planning for and attending dances and parties. Through the years of her marriage, June lived happily as wife and mother, always providing delicious homemade food and desserts for her family and welcomed all who wanted to join. If you knew her, you have certainly indulged in one of her amazing meals, whether it was Italian, Greek or all-American. Family vacations in Cape Cod, New Hampshire and Vermont were all-time favorites.
After the sudden and devastating loss of her husband in 1987, June was faced with starting a life on her own. With a strong faith in God and a supportive community, she returned to the workplace for the first time in over 35 years. She dug deep within herself and with much courage and determination began working again, first at Internists, Inc. followed by positions with Cruz Electric and Lahey, Arlington, from where she retired. Outside of work, June was always busy entertaining as well as volunteering with the Arlington Garden Club. She learned a new independence, continued to provide for her family, began traveling to destinations both domestically and internationally, and danced whenever she had the chance. After a number of years, June made the extremely difficult decision to sell the family home in Arlington and move to a condominium at Place Lane in Woburn.
Place Lane quickly became June's new home. There she made wonderful friends who became family to her. She continued her passion for entertaining and spent many years planning parties and holiday functions with the Social Club. She designed hand-made flower arrangements for the lobby, hosted dinner parties, sleep overs and cooking lessons in her condo. She spent her Monday afternoons and Friday evenings playing Mahjong with her friends, always proud of her $7.25 winnings! She welcomed new neighbors with grace, love and food! June took great pride in growing vegetables and herbs on her sunny balcony from the tiny seeds she dried from the plants she grew the year before. She would knit for hours watching Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and Hallmark Movies. She could create beauty from simple things, using her mind to guide her hands; her energy was endless.
June lived every day without missing a beat and only extenuating circumstances could keep her away from her weekly hair appointment. She aged with grace, style and the most determined character traits one could imagine; age did not define her, every day was a blessing and she lived a full life.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend services on Monday, September 8th, 2025 at St. Eulalia Church in Winchester, MA. Visiting hours will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude with the burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations in June's name can be made to a charity of your choice.
