Elizabeth B. Kelly, 76 of Whitman, Massachusetts died on August 31 at home surrounded by family. Born in Quincy,
Massachusetts in 1948 and raised in North Weymouth by George and Gertrude Shanahan.
Elizabeth graduated as the salutatorian from Archbishop Williams in 1966 and Summa Cum Laude from Boston College in 1970.Beth spent decades in a teaching capacity with special needs children in the Weymouth recreation department, and both the Cohasset and Whitman school systems. Beth loved to read, play the piano and watch Jeopardy!
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Joseph Kelly and her 3 children, Michael Kelly, Sarah Rotondo and her husband Jason, and Kevin Kelly. She leaves behind her 4 favorite people, her granddaughters, Meghan Kelly, Sophia Rotondo, Izzy Rotondo and Lauren Kelly. She also leaves behind her brother George Shanahan of Hanover, MA, Mark and Peggy
Shanahan of Bonita Springs, FL and Kevin and Dianne Shanahan of Plymouth, MA as well as his in laws Richard and Shelley Kelly of Lincoln, ME and Madelyn Russell of Plymouth MA.
Preceded in death by her parents George and Gertrude Shanahan, aunt and uncle Bill and Mary Boyd as well as sisters in law Barbara Shanahan and Barbara Bailey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Blanchard's Funeral Chapel in Whitman from 4-7pm on September 4.
There will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:45am September 5th to process to the Holy Ghost Church for a funeral Mass at 10:30am. Followed by a burial at St James cemetery, Whitman.
