It is with deep sadness that the family of Fanny Alicia Lemarie de Garcia, 98, of Groveland, announces her peaceful passing at home on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her cherished family.
Fanny was born on February 24, 1927, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the beloved daughter of the late Elias Veloz and Rosa Lemarie.
Affectionately and most famously known as “Abuelita”, Fanny lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, generosity, and joy. A woman of many talents, she worked as a seamstress and educator, but her greatest gift was the warmth she brought to everyone around her. She had a natural way of making every room brighter simply by entering it.
Her traditional Ecuadorian cooking was a family treasure, and her love for music, dance, and poetry enriched the lives of all who knew her. She delighted in traveling, whether visiting Ecuador, Europe, or enjoying her many trips to Florida. With her boundless energy and joyful spirit, Fanny embraced every moment of life—whether spending time at the beach, savoring a seafood platter, or indulging in her favorite treat, ice cream.
Above all, Fanny’s greatest joy was her family. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love that will be forever cherished.
She is reunited in eternal peace with her late husband, Jose Edmundo Garcia, of Guayaquil.
Left to honor her memory are her children: Maria Elena LaRosa, Ketty Garcia, Patricia Noshirwani, and Jose Garcia and his wife Helen.
She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Vanessa LaRosa and her husband Herish, Elaine Vega, Reinaldo Brito and his wife Amanda, Rey Emmanuel Brito and his wife Lissette, Joseph Garcia and his wife Jenna, Katrina Garcia, Brendon Garcia, Natasha Noshirwani and her husband Jose, Nicholas Noshirwani, and Shane Frechette.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Hevan, Xsavean, Nyisha, Aliza, Anays, Neveah, Malaya, Roman, Chloe, Gideon, Hadassah, Benjamin, Abigail, Faith, Julian, Layla, Zoey, Zaven, and Mateo, as well as her great-great-granddaughter Kamora.
Fanny will forever be loved, deeply missed, and always remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
