Clancy of Middleboro, grandfather of 11, brother of Henry Houde of Sharon, Gaiete “Kitty” Derry of Gardner and the late Rene Houde.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 9-10:30am with a Funeral Mass at Our lady of Lourdes Church at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Obituary information
Jean P. Houde died Friday evening at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Gardner, son of the late Alphonse and Leonie Houde. Mr. Houde attended Holy Rosary School, received a BS degree from St. Joseph’s College in Cleveland OH, and received his masters of education degree from Boston College. He also attended Eymard Seminary School in Suffern, NY and Father of Blessed Sacrament Seminary School in Cleveland OH. He taught both English and Latin at Edgartown High School and at Woburn High School for 20 years.
He had been a resident of Brockton for the past 48 years, previously living on Martha’s Vineyard for six years. At the time of his death he had been employed for the past 40 years as a real estate broker for Houde and Sons Realty in Brockton. He enjoyed attending shows in New York City, dancing, fine dining and landscaping. He was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and previously St. Margaret’s Church where he taught CCD.
He is survived by his six children, Gregory J. Houde of Brockton, Denise S. Reed of Brockton, Peter J. Houde of Taunton, Michael Houde of Brockton, Mary Ellen Nutting of Fitchburg and Valeria A. Clancy of Middleboro, 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a brother Henry Houde of Sharon and a sister Gaiete “Kitty” Derry of Gardner.
He was the husband of the late Gloria T. (Bourgeois) Houde and brother of the late Rene Houde.
